Hi! My name is Bec Platt, owner and designer at Coloured Pears.

Coloured Pears was born from a desire to stay creative after having my first baby. I knew I didn’t want to go back to work doing something I didn’t 100% love. Being trained as a graphic designer gave me the skills to create my own range of prints.
After seeing some beautiful old images of pin-up’s I knew I wanted to create something unique with these girls as the inspiration. I played with vintage images and created my own using digital techniques to draw and layer the old and the new. I use vintage wallpapers, grunge textures, watercolours and photography to create my backgrounds as well the quirky and suggestive text that was used in pin-up girl calendars.
I was able to release a few of my pieces through an online store and at a market. I had a great response in a short time and was featured on blogs and asked to join other stores to sell my work. In the past two years this collection has grown to include abstract prints and a children’s range and I have some exciting plans for a new collection to be released in May.
My work is sold on Hardtofind, in a few select stores around Australia and my own online store where I also sell retro and vintage inspired products and unique jewellery pieces sourced from around the world.
